Experience New Zealand like never before!

It should be no surprise that New Zealand is a Canyoning paradise. For many Kiwis’, going down to the local river or lake and jumping off the rocks and swimming around in the water was a fairly typical summer time thing to do. It is part of our adventurous culture and one of the simplest forms of personal challenge, self-fulfilment and fun that all people can identify with.

Canyoning with Big Rock Canyons is exactly that kind of adventure, but with much, much more. It is also a journey through an otherwise inaccessible and unknown area, some great exercise plus you get to learn and use new technical skills. Come with us and have a fun filled journey, amazing memories and adventure!

What is CANYONING?

Canyoning is a lot of different fun activities all rolled into one. You SWIM through the pools in anticipation for what the next horizon line has install. Could it be a JUMP off a waterfall? Maybe there’s an ABSEIL/RAPPEL next to the waterfall or canyon sidewall…or in the waterfalls flow itself! We SLIDE down smooth water worn rock faces or ZIPLINE through the air then free fall into the deep green pools below. Drag yourself out of the water then SCRAMBLE over and amongst the rocks and boulders to the next waterfall announced by the trickling running stream just before it cascades into the spray and mist below. Come and experience nature’s water park ride.
